Galicia health initiatives promote cancer awareness and support

Health initiatives in Galicia are focusing on cancer support and awareness through community events. In Vigo, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) is organizing its first cancer race on October 18. The event features a 10-kilometer competitive circuit and a 5-kilometer walk for all ages. Proceeds from the race are dedicated to oncological research and providing free services to cancer patients and their families.

In Santiago de Compostela, the ‘Escuela Esperanza’ initiative, a collaboration between the GSK-EDEV alliance and the Galician Health Service (SERGAS), held a seminar and walk to mark World Gynecological Cancer Day. The event emphasized the vital role of physical exercise in the well-being and recovery of patients with gynecological cancer. Health professionals and patients participated in discussions aimed at integrating adapted exercise programs into standard oncological care.
