Galicia High Court sets compensation criteria for temporary contract abuse

The High Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG) has established a new legal criterion for determining compensation for public administration workers who have suffered prolonged abuse through temporary contracting.

In recent rulings, the Social Chamber recognized moral damages for workers who remained in abusive temporary situations for over fifteen and twenty-two years, respectively. The court ruled that compensation can be calculated using the Law on Infractions and Sanctions in the Social Order (LISOS) as a reference. Specifically, for every complete three-year period of abusive temporary employment, a new amount of up to 10,000 euros may be accrued, subject to individual circumstances and other proven damages.
