Galicia highlighted as innovation hub at APD and MMH forums

During the second Competitiveness and Reindustrialization Forum organized by APD, business leaders advocated for Galicia's position as a leading center for innovation. The forum addressed the challenges of technological and industrial sovereignty within a complex geopolitical and energy landscape.

Experts at the event noted significant shifts in the international order, including the reconfiguration of energy markets and Europe's dependence on critical materials for electrification. The discussion highlighted how Russia's shift toward Asian markets and Venezuela's role as a supplier to the United States are reshaping global dynamics.

In a separate context at the MMH 2026 international mining meeting in Seville, Galicia was featured as an invited autonomous community. Discussions focused on Europe's challenge to secure critical minerals to reduce structural dependency on third countries. Panelists emphasized the need for planetary-scale mining practices that respect ecosystems and the importance of securing a social license from local communities to ensure the success of new mining projects.
