Galicia issues €500 million sustainable bonds, launches local commerce vouchers

The Xunta de Galicia announced the issuance of €500 million in sustainable bonds aimed at financing social, environmental and green‑economy projects linked to the 2030 Agenda. The bond programme, praised for strong demand from domestic and international investors, is expected to raise financing without increasing the region’s net debt and follows recent credit‑rating upgrades that reflect Galicia’s solid economic growth and prudent fiscal management.

In parallel, the regional government’s “Bonos Activa Comercio” scheme in Ourense, backed by a €2.5 million budget, has enrolled 897 local retailers. The program offers users discounts of up to €30, with an estimated €400,000 in savings and €1.7 million in additional sales, aiming to strengthen the rural economy, retain population and sustain employment in the area.
