Galicia launches special bus services for August 12 solar eclipse

The regional government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia) has arranged extra public‑transport services for the total solar eclipse on 12 August. Bus operators Monbus and Arriva have put tickets on sale for special routes that will move passengers from the Atlantic Axis – notably from the intermodal station in Vigo to the bus stations in A Coruña and Ferrol – as well as new connections in Lugo and the A Mariña coast.

The Vigo‑Ferrol service departs at 12:35 and arrives at 15:30, stopping in Pontevedra, Santiago, Pontedeume and Fene before reaching Ferrol. The Vigo‑A Coruña line leaves at 14:00 with similar intermediate stops. Return trips are scheduled for 23:00 after eclipse viewing. In Lugo, a new 17:00 service runs Lugo‑Meira‑Ribadeo, and a Ribadeo‑Foz beach link departs at 18:00. All tickets are available online and at stations on the day of the eclipse, aiming to ease traffic, provide an alternative to private cars and accommodate the expected high visitor influx.
