Galicia marks Saint James Day with concerts, dance and restaurant specials

The municipality of Tui in Galicia organised a series of cultural activities on Saturday, 25 July, to celebrate Saint James Apóstol. A free concert by the folk group Doa Duo took place at the Church of San Domingos, featuring vocals, harmonium, percussion and acoustic/electric guitar. The programme also included a mixed‑media performance titled “Sofá”, combining theatre, dance and acrobatics, staged on Sunday at the Alameda de Tui.

In the historic centre of Pontevedra, local guides compiled a list of the ten best restaurants for the holiday, highlighting venues such as the Michelin‑starred O Eirado da Leña. The selections focus on Galician seafood and traditional cuisine, offering both relaxed and lively dining options for the public holiday, which also doubles as Galicia’s regional day.

Both events reflect the wider regional observance of Saint James Day on 25 July, a public holiday throughout Galicia, drawing pilgrims and locals alike to cultural and culinary festivities.
