Galicia municipalities award and finish pedestrian bridge projects

The Redondela town council approved a contract to build a new pedestrian bridge over the Maceiras River in the Vilavella area. The project, funded with €24,254 from the provincial plan, will connect the parking area with the river promenade using a design that avoids supports in the riverbed, features reinforced‑concrete foundations and wooden railings, and meets universal accessibility standards. Mayor Digna Rivas highlighted the bridge’s role in promoting sustainable mobility and safe, car‑free access.

In the neighbouring municipality of Pontes, works to repair the bridge over the Chamoselo River in Pedrafita have been completed. Built by GONNABA Construcciones y Reformas S.L. at a cost of €96,110, the new reinforced‑concrete structure spans 6 m and restores a vital road link that was damaged by heavy rains. The upgrade includes new retaining walls and a resurfaced roadway, improving safety and durability for local traffic.
