Galicia Sets Record with Nearly 33,000 Large‑Family Cards in 2025

The Xunta de Galicia reported that 32,750 large‑family cards were active on 31 December 2025, a 4.9% increase (1,531 more) over the previous year. Of these, 28,638 (87.4%) belong to the general category and 4,112 (12.6%) to the special category.

During 2025 the regional government issued 12,030 new cards. The majority were processed in the provinces of A Coruña (4,926 new, 13,886 active) and Pontevedra (4,717 new, 12,901 active), followed by Lugo (1,203 new, 3,084 active) and Ourense (1,184 new, 2,879 active).

Holding a large‑family card grants families tax reductions, educational advantages, housing assistance, transport discounts and other benefits promoted by the Xunta.
