Galicia tourism sees high demand for wine routes and seasonal trains
Tourism initiatives in Galicia have reported strong seasonal results, particularly within the wine and rail sectors. The Ruta do Viño Valdeorras recently concluded a series of enotourism activities held on October 10 and 11, which reached full capacity. The events attracted visitors from Galicia, León, Asturias, and Madrid, featuring guided tours of historical sites such as the Sanctuary of As Ermidas and the medieval castle of O Bolo, alongside wine tastings at local wineries.
Separately, the Galician tourist train season concluded on October 3 with an average occupancy rate of 93.4%. Supported by the Xunta de Galicia, Renfe, and the Instituto Orensano de Desarrollo Tecnológico, the program offered 13 different itineraries and 33 departures. This year saw a 9.4% increase in available places compared to the previous year, resulting in an 11% growth in traveler occupancy. Popular routes included the Ruta dos Viños do Ribeiro-Rías Baixas, the Ruta dos Faros, and the Ribeira Sacra wine routes.
