Galicia university students face high costs for shared housing

University students in Galicia are facing significant challenges in finding affordable housing for the upcoming academic year. A study by Idealista reveals that there are 1,365 rooms available in shared apartments across the seven cities hosting public university campuses in the region.

A Coruña has the highest supply with 303 rooms, followed by Vigo with 277, and Ourense with 225. These three cities alone account for nearly 59% of the available inventory. However, availability does not guarantee affordability; A Coruña is the most expensive city for shared housing, with an average monthly cost of 350 euros per room, followed by Pontevedra and Ourense at 330 euros.

Many students are forced to seek shared accommodations as an alternative to public residences, often facing high demand and rising prices.
