Galician agriculture faces earlier harvests amid climate shifts

Agricultural patterns in Galicia are shifting due to rising temperatures, leading to earlier harvests for various crops. In some areas, chestnut harvests are arriving between one and fifteen days earlier than usual. Other crops, such as grapes in the Rías Baixas DO and corn, are also showing accelerated growth cycles.

To support the local chestnut industry, Correos has launched a special shipping campaign in El Bierzo. Available until November 30, the service allows citizens to send chestnuts from various postal offices, including Bembibre, Ponferrada, and Villafranca del Bierzo, to anywhere on the Iberian Peninsula. The service includes discounted rates, urgent delivery to ensure product quality, and options for home collection by rural mail carriers.
