Galician BNG challenges Xunta and Vigo mayor over service funding and building redevelopment

The Galician nationalist party BNG has demanded that the regional government (Xunta) include the municipality of Gondomar in a new financing scheme for the Home Care Service (SAF). The party says exclusion would deprive the town of about €510,000 and notes that the proposed rates of €12‑18 per hour fall far short of the actual average cost of €25 per hour. BNG argues the arrangement breaches the dependency law that requires full funding by the Xunta and the state, calling the proposal indecent and accusing the PP‑led local administration of irresponsibility.

In Vigo, BNG officials accused mayor Abel Caballero of using the renovation of the former FAVEC headquarters to make the forced eviction of the neighbourhood federation irreversible. Spokesperson Xabier Pérez Igrexas described the works as an "authoritarian offensive" and a "partisan revenge", saying the council broke dialogue with FAVEC, withdrew subsidies and acted on a court ruling that justified the decision on public‑interest grounds. BNG announced it will vote against the renovation contract.
