Galician business leaders receive prestigious Gold Medals

José García Costas, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Pontevedra, Vigo, and Vilagarcía de Arousa, has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Order of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. The distinction, presented by José Luis Bonet in Vigo, recognizes García Costas’s business career and his role in integrating the regional chambers in 2016. During his speech, he emphasized the essential role of chambers in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises amidst technological transformation and globalization.

Separately, Marián Mouriño, president of Real Club Celta, has been selected to receive the 2026 Gold Medal from the Círculo de Empresarios de Galicia. The award recognizes her business career in Spain and Mexico, as well as her leadership at Celta. Since assuming the presidency in December 2023, Mouriño has overseen the creation of the club’s women's section and significant sporting achievements, including the first team's sixth-place finish in LaLiga and a quarter-final appearance in the Europa League.
