Galician Church to convert rectories into social housing

The Archdiocese of Santiago, Cáritas Diocesana de Santiago, and the Official College of Architects of Galicia (COAG) have signed an agreement to identify and rehabilitate ecclesiastical properties for residential use.

The program aims to address housing shortages in Galicia by converting church-owned buildings, including approximately 800 rectories within the Archdiocese of Santiago, into social housing resources. These properties will be utilized for emergency housing, temporary accommodation, and social inclusion projects to assist vulnerable individuals and families.
