Galician communities seek to exclude Cabo Udra from August solar eclipse viewing

The Community of Montes de Beluso in Bueu met with municipal tourism councillor Silvia Carballo to request that Cabo Udra and nearby sites such as the Caracola area and Donón parking be designated off‑limits for the upcoming solar eclipse on 12 August. The residents cite fire risk and the area's protection under the Natura 2000 network, echoing a similar appeal made earlier by the O Hío community in Cangas.

President Raquel Bermúdez warned that the area has already suffered two summer fires and that a large influx of eclipse spectators could endanger its conservation. The municipal council is scheduled to vote on the request, which could affect tourism promotion plans for the eclipse in Galicia.
