Galician health services report increased summer activity

Galician Health Minister Antonio Gómez Caamaño presented data before the Parliament of Galicia regarding the performance of the regional health service, Sergas, during the summer months. The regional government attributed an increase in medical activity to a summer health plan backed by over 10.1 million euros.

In hospitals, consultations rose by 4.87% and diagnostic tests increased by 2.36% compared to the previous year. Hospital emergency departments treated 309,657 patients. Primary care also saw growth, with health centers conducting over 6.1 million consultations. Notably, Continuous Care Points (PAC) saw a 6.9% increase in activity, attending to 482,153 patients.

Regarding specific regional logistics, the Minister defended the seasonal relocation of the medicalized ambulance base from O Salnés to Sanxenxo. He stated the move was based on technical demand, noting that 53.1% of the 207 mobilizations made by that unit during July and August occurred in Sanxenxo. He emphasized that other municipalities remained covered by five permanent basic ambulances stationed in Caldas de Reis, Cambados, O Grove, Sanxenxo, and Vilagarcía de Arousa.
