Galician libraries report high reading activity and popular titles

Public libraries in Galicia, specifically in O Barco and A Coruña, have released data highlighting significant reading activity and popular literary trends for the year.

In O Barco, the Florencio Delgado Gurriarán Municipal Library recorded 16,537 visits and 4,661 loans in 2025. The most requested adult titles included the 'The Housemaid' trilogy by Freida McFadden, 'Victoria' by Paloma Sánchez-Garnica, and 'Nada sucede la víspera' by Chufo Lloréns. For children and young adults, Dav Pilkey was a standout author with titles such as 'Policán'.

In A Coruña, library data from early 2026 shows a strong preference for mystery novels and family stories. Joël Dicker’s 'La muy catastrófica visita al zoo' topped the adult loans in Spanish. Galician author Lucía Solla Sobral also saw high demand with 'Comerás flores', a title that has also proven to be a top seller in local bookstores.
