Galician municipalities launch various infrastructure and urban renewal projects

Various municipalities in Galicia are undertaking significant infrastructure and urban development projects.

In O Porriño, the local government is investing over 460,000 euros to improve road safety on a 1.8-kilometer stretch between San Campio and Rego das Laxas. This project, partially funded by the Deputación de Pontevedra, aims to repair deteriorated pavement used by residents, industrial workers, and pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. It also serves the area near the Municipal Velodrome.

Other regional developments include: - Vilagarcía de Arousa has awarded 375,086 euros for the renovation of Calle Esperanza and the Lucena crossing to improve pedestrian accessibility in the Carril maritime district. - Miño has launched a tender for 806,754 euros to renovate sidewalks on Cobo and Loios streets to improve beach access. - Ferrol has approved a 49,425-euro repair for a municipal path in the Esmelle parish. - Ponteareas has initiated a modification to its General Plan to manage tertiary land use.

Additionally, a leak has been detected in a submarine freshwater pipe supplying Cangas and Moaña from Vigo. Local fishing guilds report that the leak is disturbing the seabed and potentially affecting shellfish harvesting.
