Galician municipalities host events for solar eclipse and Perseids

Municipalities in Galicia are organizing public events to observe the total solar eclipse and the Perseids meteor shower on Wednesday, August 12.

In Muras, activities will take place at Alto da Curuxeira. Led by the Galician Society of Natural History, the program includes real-time guidance for safe eclipse observation, followed by a lecture on the Perseids and constellation recognition. The town, which holds the Starlight certification, offers these activities for free.

In Mos, the “Mos Baixo as Estrelas” program will be centered at the Castro de Herville. The schedule includes scientific outreach regarding eclipse safety and the use of certified glasses, a guided walk, and musical performances. The event will transition into a night session at Chan da Carreira for stargazing and viewing the Perseids meteor shower.
