Galician musical institutions announce new leadership and concert programs

The Real Filharmonía de Galicia (RFG) will inaugurate the second part of its classical subscription season at Teatro Afundación on October 7. The concert will be conducted by César Ramos, the ensemble's assistant director for the 2026/2027 season, marking his first appearance in Vigo. The program focuses on the musical connections between France and Brazil, featuring works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Maurice Ravel, Georges Bizet, Henri Duparc, and Darius Milhaud.

In related musical developments in Galicia, Javier Fajardo has been appointed as the new artistic and musical director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OSG) choirs. Fajardo, who has previously served as a musical director for the choir and as a guest conductor for the orchestra, succeeds Carlos Mena. The OSG choir consists of approximately 120 singers.
