Galician technology to transcribe maritime voice communications
A new technological project emerging from Pontevedra, Galicia, aims to transform maritime voice communications into accessible text. Led by entrepreneur Félix Lucía Regueira, the initiative seeks to capture voice exchanges between ports and ships, automatically transcribe them, and facilitate their distribution through digital channels such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
The project intends to utilize artificial intelligence to analyze these communications and generate summaries of key operational matters. This tool is designed to help manage the high volume of information currently transmitted via audio, making it easier to archive, search, and share instructions among workers and maritime services.
The development is expected to participate in the future Vigo TIC Global HUB at the Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Vigo. While the initial focus is on serving Galician ports, the long-term goal is to expand the service to other Spanish and international ports.
