Galicia's coastal towns host seafood and maritime heritage festivals

The port of Barallobre in Fene will hold the Festa do Marisco on 22‑23 August, featuring fresh shellfish tastings, live music, cooking shows, children’s activities and a traditional Sunday race. The event is organized by the Cofradía de Pescadores de Barallobre and backed by regional authorities, including the Consellería do Mar, to celebrate the ría de Ferrol’s fishing and mariscado heritage.

In Cambados, the III Festa Mariñeira will take place on 14‑15 of the month, highlighting the town’s maritime traditions. Activities include a guided sea‑route on the traditional boat “Chasula”, cultural tours of local heritage sites, and musical performances. The festival also aims to raise funds to restore the historic sailing vessel “Airexa” and potentially a local gamela, with support from the municipal Culture Department and the Clube Mariño Salnés.
