Galicia's Coastline Benefits from a Year of Autonomous Governance

Regional President Alfonso Rueda said that the first full year of autonomous management of Galicia’s coastline has demonstrated that legal certainty and economic dynamism can coexist with strong environmental protection. The Xunta processed more than 1,800 concessions and authorisations through a digital, streamlined system and approved over 900 seasonal tourism services from Easter to the end of October.

Rueda also highlighted the launch of the "Camino del Litoral," a 1,300‑kilometre trail divided into 52 stages that will link 78 municipalities from Ribadeo to A Guarda, promoting coastal heritage, landscape and gastronomy. He stressed that the new model balances development of marine‑industry facilities, fisheries, shipyards and tourism with sustainable stewardship of the coast.

Negotiations continue with the central government over the transfer of initial work permits to the regional administration, with both sides seeking a definitive agreement.
