Galicia's high‑tech sector posts record revenues as Gradiant tops €17 million

The technology centre Gradiant reported a record €17 million in revenue for 2025, a 20% increase over the previous year, driven by 123 research and innovation projects and a staff of more than 250 professionals. Two thirds of its income came from contracts with private companies, while a tenth derived from the sale of intellectual property. The centre secured €6.4 million in R&D contracts and €4.4 million in European aid, and its projects included 81 for the Spanish state, 23 in Galicia and 19 abroad. In 2025 Gradiant launched two AI spin‑offs, Kiury and Dokken, and announced plans for a third, Qryption, plus the creation of the TRL13 investment fund to back deep‑tech companies.

According to the National Statistics Institute, firms classified as high and medium‑high technology in Galicia generated €45.837 billion in turnover in 2024, representing 12.3% of Spain’s total in the sector and a 5.5% year‑on‑year increase. Exports of high‑tech products rose 11.6% while imports grew 5.9%. The turnover broke down across manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace, chemicals, medical devices and high‑tech services, with the largest shares coming from manufacturing sub‑sectors and a €45.1 million contribution from research and development activities.
