Galicia's ICT sector adds 3,200 jobs, nearing 24,000 employees

The Galician information and communications technology (ICT) sector continued its growth trajectory, employing 23,993 professionals after creating 3,253 new positions between 2021 and 2025. The sector now comprises 3,179 companies, a 2.3 % increase over the previous year. It generated a gross added value of over €1,983 million, representing 2.58 % of Galicia's GDP, while business turnover rose 5.9 % to €3,932 million.

Labor market pressure eased slightly, with 68.4 % of ICT firms finding STEM‑qualified staff difficult to recruit—a 10.8 % improvement from the prior year. Artificial intelligence is now used by 67.4 % of companies, a 76 % rise, with natural‑language generation tools adopted by 75.1 % and machine‑learning techniques for data analysis used by 46.1 %.

The Observatory of the Information Society and Modernisation of Galicia (OSIMGA) presented its 2025 activity report, publishing 43 studies, achieving 100 % of its statistical programme commitments, and releasing its first cybersecurity report on Galician firms. For 2026, OSIMGA plans new indicators, methodology updates, and further studies on digital inclusion, AI, and sectoral trends.
