Galicia's Vigo padel tournament expands participation as nearby court converts to pickleball

The City Council of Vigo announced the XII Torneo de Pádel Vigo 2026, scheduled for 26 June to 5 July at the Máis que Auga facilities in Barreiro and Navia. Organisers expect more than 1,200 amateur participants, surpassing last year’s record of 1,042 entries. The €15 entry fee includes a €1 contribution to the Spanish Cancer Association, and the event offers wheelchair padel, youth categories, a Legends division and prize‑money categories.

Meanwhile, the Council of Meaño has dismantled an outdoor padel court built in 2015 and is installing a new pickleball court on the same site. The conversion, funded with €6,500 from the municipal treasury, follows a recent credit amendment approved in March. The new pickleball facility meets the sport’s standard dimensions of 13.41 m × 6.10 m and reflects growing interest in the racquet sport in Galicia.
