Galicia tourism authority bars Laureano Oubiña's 'Ruta del Narcotráfico' boat tour

The Xunta de Galicia’s tourism inspection opened a sanctioning file against the planned "Ruta del Narcotráfico," a boat excursion on the Ría de Arousa promoted by former drug trafficker Laureano Oubiña. The tour, scheduled to depart from O Grove on 29 August, would have visited fifteen historic sites, included meals and wine, and been guided personally by Oubiña. It was marketed by the company Pejurito S.L.U. (Lanécora) at prices around €189 for adults and €25 for children.

Conselleiro de Presidencia Diego Calvo stated that the activity constitutes a "tourist package" that, under the 2011 Galician Tourism Law, may only be organized by a legally authorized travel agency. Because Pejurito is not such an agency, the Xunta declared the venture unauthorized and prohibited its execution.
