Galicia's Xunta launches dual employment workshops and new labor reintegration plan
The Xunta de Galicia signed a pre‑agreement with the Confederación de Empresarios de Galicia (CEG) and the UGT‑Galicia union to develop a labour‑reintegration plan. The agreement, signed by Employment Councilor José González, will introduce "novel mechanisms" for returning workers to jobs after temporary incapacity and will be funded once the regional budget for 2027‑2029 is approved.
For the 2026‑27 period the Xunta will invest more than €10.5 million in 23 dual‑employment workshops in the province of Ourense, training 460 participants from 57 municipalities and four mancomunidades. The workshops combine on‑the‑job training with employment in sectors such as forest management, construction and heritage conservation, and are part of a broader rollout of about 100 workshops across Galicia that aim to benefit roughly 2,000 people.
Councilor González, accompanied by Director General Zeltia Lado, highlighted that the initiative strengthens professional qualifications, addresses labour needs in rural areas and improves public spaces and cultural heritage.
