Galil Importing Corp. recalls Lior Cinnamon over lead concerns
Galil Importing Corp. has initiated a voluntary recall of Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning due to elevated lead levels found during testing. The contamination was identified following routine sampling by the Maryland Department of Health.
The recalled product is sold in 90-gram transparent plastic containers with UPC code 794711005484 and lot code GAP11304. Distribution occurred between November 18, 2025, and September 7, 2026, across retail stores, grocery outlets, delis, and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois.
While no illnesses have been reported, health officials warn that lead exposure can affect multiple body systems. Chronic exposure, particularly in children, can lead to permanent central nervous system damage, including learning disorders and developmental defects. Galil Importing Corp. is currently investigating its suppliers and implementing enhanced testing procedures to prevent future occurrences.
