Galilea Montijo reveals facial complications after cosmetic surgery

Mexican TV presenter Galilea Montijo disclosed that a February 2026 cosmetic procedure intended to lift an eyebrow and contour the neck resulted in severe medical complications. She suffered intense inflammation, second‑ and third‑degree burns from an anti‑inflammatory liquid, and damage to a facial nerve that left her unable to control the right side of her mouth and eye. The complications prompted fears that she might lose her television career, and she described emotional distress and media criticism.

Montijo discussed the ordeal on the podcast “Bajo la piel” with her physician, Dr. Marimar Guerra, who treated her after the surgery. Guerra confirmed the nerve irritation and burn injuries, and noted that the swelling collapsed nearby lymphatic tissue, causing a contracture in the neck. Montijo is undergoing ongoing therapy and has urged others to investigate aesthetic procedures carefully.
