India advances cricket and hockey teams to Asian Games finals

India achieved significant success at the 2026 Asian Games, with both the men's cricket and hockey teams advancing to their respective gold medal finals.

In cricket, the Indian men's team secured a dominant 124-run victory over Sri Lanka in the semifinal. Ishan Kishan led the batting with an unbeaten 80, helping India reach 169/7. Sri Lanka collapsed to a historic low of 45 runs, marking their lowest-ever total in men's T20I history. India will face Pakistan in the final.

In hockey, the men's team overcame Pakistan in a dramatic 4-3 semifinal thriller. After leading 3-0, India surrendered the lead to allow Pakistan to equalize at 3-3, before Abhishek scored a decisive goal in the final minute to secure the win. This victory ensures both India's men's and women's hockey teams reach the finals at the same Asian Games for the first time since 1998.

Beyond team sports, India added several medals to its tally, which reached 65. Notable individual achievements include Nitesh Siwach winning silver in men's 97kg Greco-Roman wrestling and the duo of Manu Francis and Prince Noble earning silver in the men's skiff sailing event. India also secured bronze medals in squash and compound archery.
