Galleria della Limina to close for nighttime safety works

The Galleria della Limina, located on the Ionio-Tirreno road, will undergo nighttime closures starting in November 2026 to facilitate safety improvements. The works, aimed at implementing self-rescue measures, will be conducted by two teams between 22:00 and 05:00 to minimize driver disruption.

The construction schedule includes a suspension from December 15 to January 15, with work resuming on January 15, 2027. During nighttime closures, traffic will be diverted via the SP5 della Limina mountain route. However, heavy vehicles will be excluded from this diversion. Following discussions with the operational committee for road safety of the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria, Anas has committed to performing necessary maintenance on the SP5 route, specifically the section connecting Mammola to the Grande Comunicazione junction.
