Gallery 33 hosts exhibition of Plovdiv artists in Varna

Gallery 33 in Varna is hosting an exhibition featuring works from ten prominent artists of the Plovdiv art school. The collection, which is open to the public with free admission from November 4 to 24, showcases a diverse range of styles, from expressive gestures to rich color palettes.

A central focus of the exhibition is the work of four artists associated with the famous “Plovdiv Five”: Georgi Bozhilov – Slona, Dimitar Kirov – DiKiro, Ioan Leviev, and Encho Pironkov. Their contributions highlight a significant period in the development of Plovdiv art during the 1960s and 1970s.

Notable pieces on display include Georgi Bozhilov – Slona’s “Nude,” inspired by actress Katya Paskaleva, and Dimitar Kirov – DiKiro’s interpretations of Bulgarian folk traditions in “The Song of Thrace” and “Folk Aria.” Other featured artists include Petar Pironkov, Vihroni Popnedelev, Vesko Velev, Valentin Kolev, Vasil Stoev, and Atanas Hranov.
