Gallipoli 111th August Offensive Anniversary Marked in Çanakkale

On the 111th anniversary of the 1915 August Offensive, the Australian Embassy organized a commemorative ceremony at the Lone Pine (Yalnız Çam) Monument on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Çanakkale, Turkey. Australian Ambassador to Turkey Sally‑Anne Vincent addressed the gathering, recalling the heavy human losses on both sides and highlighting the enduring friendship among Australia, New Zealand and Turkey.

The event was attended by Turkish officials including Çanakkale Governor Doç. Dr. Ömer Toraman, 2nd Corps Commander Ferat Vural and Gallipoli Historical Area head İsmail Kaşdemir. Vincent also marked the 20th anniversary of the Australian Consulate in Çanakkale, underscoring two decades of diplomatic and cultural cooperation.
