Gallipoli nightclub Praja suspended for 15 days amid investigations

The license for the Praja nightclub in Gallipoli has been suspended for 15 days following a directive from Lecce Police Commissioner Giampiero Lionetti. The suspension comes after investigations by the Carabinieri and State Police into several serious incidents.

Authorities are investigating two alleged instances of sexual violence against minors that occurred in the venue's parking area in July. In one reported case, a minor allegedly sought help from club staff but was discouraged from contacting law enforcement. Additionally, investigations revealed the service of alcohol to minors and 17 cases of severe alcohol intoxication.

Other reported issues include approximately 20 complaints regarding thefts of jewelry, phones, and wallets, as well as multiple brawls and physical assaults involving tourists. The suspension halts major scheduled summer events, including performances by Anna Pepee and Bob Sinclar.

Management of the nightclub has released a statement calling the measure "unjust and disproportionate," noting that the closure affects the livelihoods of over 200 employees.
