Gallo Bâ appointed head of Senegal’s AGEROUTE
Gallo Bâ has been appointed to lead the Agency for Road Works and Management (AGEROUTE) in Senegal. The appointment is viewed as both an administrative decision and a strategic political move by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Bâ, the former mayor of Mbacké and former Minister of Civil Service under Macky Sall, possesses significant territorial influence in the Mbacké department. His political history includes transitioning from the Benno Bokk Yaakaar coalition to supporting the Pastef party during the November 2024 legislative elections.
Analysts suggest this appointment serves President Faye’s efforts to build a distinct political space separate from Ousmane Sonko and the Pastef core. Bâ’s ability to navigate between the former administration’s networks and the current leadership makes him a potential bridge for the President as he seeks to broaden his political base and attract diverse local leaders.
