Gallocanta Wetland reopens free crane watching tours
The Gallocanta Wetland in Aragon is resuming its free guided tours for observing migrating cranes starting Saturday, October 24. The program, titled ‘On the Road with the Cranes’ and promoted by the Government of Aragon, features environmental educators who explain the species' migratory strategies and habits.
While the first cranes have begun arriving from northern and eastern Europe, their presence is currently gradual. Tours will be held every weekend and on public holidays until early December, with sessions scheduled for 10:30 and 15:30.
Due to the nature of the migration, visitors must make reservations in advance via the Red Natural de Aragón website. Last year, the region recorded a peak of over 19,000 cranes in a single day in November, highlighting the site's importance as a vital refuge for rest and feeding during the migratory journey.
