Gallows Corner flyover reopens after 15-month refurbishment

Transport for London (TfL) has announced the full reopening of the Gallows Corner flyover and roundabout in Havering following a 15-month refurbishment project. The works, which began in June 2025, were designed to secure the long-term future of the structure, which had been serving as a temporary installation since the 1970s.

The project involved significant strengthening and improvement works, including the replacement or renewal of nearly all components except the original foundations. These upgrades are expected to allow for the removal of previous speed and weight restrictions, improving journey reliability and supporting local bus services.

In addition to road improvements, the project included water infrastructure upgrades conducted in collaboration with Essex and Suffolk Water (ESW). The refurbishment also featured new pedestrian and cycle crossings, resurfacing, and improved road markings to enhance safety and conditions for all road users.
