Thailand shooting and Croatian school boycott reported
In Thailand, a gunman, suspected to be the husband of a kindergarten teacher, shot and killed the educator inside the Nong Pla Lai municipal kindergarten in Chonburi province. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM in a ground-floor hallway while classes were in progress. Authorities successfully evacuated 44 children and several staff members without injury. The suspect, reportedly a police officer, fled the scene and is currently being sought by police, who have surrounded his residence. This event has reignited debates regarding school safety and gun control in Thailand.
In Croatia, approximately 15 parents from Galovac near Zadar have organized a boycott, preventing their fourth-grade children from attending school. The parents allege that their teacher frequently sleeps during lessons, fails to provide adequate instruction, and behaves inappropriately toward students. While an educational inspection previously identified irregularities in the teacher’s documentation and assessment methods, they could not confirm the sleeping allegations. The school principal, Josip Lučić, stated that while complaints have been filed, the teacher has been deemed capable of working, and dismissal requires specific legal grounds beyond isolated incidents.
