Galway GAA star Sean “Fitzy” Fitzgerald exits Love Island

Sean Fitzgerald, a 25‑year‑old Gaelic footballer from Galway, left the UK reality series Love Island after forming a relationship with fellow contestant Lola. In a post‑exit interview he said he felt “mixed emotions leaving the Villa” but was happy that the show helped him find “the girl I wanted” and gave him “unreal friends”.

Fellow Galway player Shane Walsh publicly backed Fitzgerald, posting a photo of the two in their county gear and writing that the team was “fully behind our star full‑back”. Walsh’s endorsement highlighted the solidarity between the GAA squad and Fitzgerald’s new TV venture, while Fitzgerald described his experience as a “great success” and expressed gratitude for the support he received from both teammates and new friends on the show.
