Gambettola and Oriago begin construction of new urban parks in Italy
In Gambettola, work has started on the Rio Rigoncello park, a one‑hectare urban green area on a currently unused site near a school, cemetery and sports centre. The €990,330 project is co‑financed by the Emilia‑Romagna region through the EU Regional Development Fund and the municipality, with construction carried out by Sear Costruzioni Stradali Spa. Planned features include a cycle‑pedestrian path, drainage‑paved parking, de‑sealing of impermeable soils and improved access to the local school.
In the nearby frazione of Oriago, a new 5,980 m² public park is under development, budgeted at about €250,000. The facility will host a basketball court, ping‑pong tables, outdoor fitness equipment, bike racks, benches and new tree planting, targeting children, teenagers and adults. Mayor Marco Dori emphasized the goal of providing a safe, inclusive space for sport and social activity, while assessor Albino Pesce highlighted the project as part of a broader municipal programme to expand equipped parks across the territory.
