Gambia Civil Aviation Authority inaugurates new Board of Directors

The Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure has officially inaugurated a new Board of Directors for the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). The appointment follows a rigorous selection process intended to lead the nation’s aviation sector through a period of strategic and operational transformation.

A primary objective for the new board is the decoupling of the GCAA’s tripartite functions, a move aligned with recommendations from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to meet global best practices. This restructuring aims to ensure the Gambian aviation sector remains safe, efficient, and competitive.

Board Chairwoman Nancy Jow stated that the board is committed to making decisions that benefit the industry and the Gambian people. Newly appointed member Fatou Jeng also emphasized the necessity of upgrading airports to meet international standards.
