Gambia Justice Minister Moussa Sarr Calls for Asset Declaration Compliance

The deadline for filing or updating asset declarations in Gambia expired on 31 July 2026. In a circular dated 5 August 2026, Justice Minister and Keeper of the Seals Me Moussa Sarr urged directors, court presidents and prosecutors to regularise their filings immediately. The requirement stems from law n° 2025‑13 of 3 September 2025 and its implementing decree, which mandate declarations at the start, during, and at the end of public service to prevent corruption.

The Office of the Fight Against Corruption (OFNAC) now moves to the verification phase. Officials who fail to comply risk being listed publicly as defaulters and may face sanctions. A July report showed only 558 of the 1 594 persons subject to the obligation had submitted declarations, indicating low compliance before the deadline.
