Gambling industry leaders discuss retention and oppose prediction markets

At the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, gambling executives and industry leaders discussed strategies to attract and retain customers. Promotional materials and panel discussions highlighted methods such as providing personalized incentives, enhancing casino amenities, and making it easier for players to move money onto machines.

Leaked audio from the event includes warnings from a professional bettor regarding products that can rapidly drain customers’ bankrolls and the risks of problem gambling.

Simultaneously, industry leaders led a campaign to oppose federally regulated prediction-market competitors. American Gaming Association President and CEO Bill Miller, alongside leaders from the Indian Gaming Association and the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, characterized prediction markets as “untaxed, unregulated, consumer-predatory organizations.” While Miller claimed these platforms are unstable, the CFTC maintains that platforms like Kalshi are federally regulated.
