Game Freak announces Beast of Reincarnation action RPG

Game Freak is expanding its portfolio beyond the Pokémon franchise with Beast of Reincarnation, a dark, single-player action RPG. Set in Japan in the year 4026, the game depicts a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious plague has allowed nature to reclaim human civilization, creating a landscape where vegetation consumes abandoned infrastructure.

The narrative follows Emma, a young woman, and her plague-infected canine companion, Koo. The gameplay is designed around the symbiotic relationship between these two characters. Combat mechanics feature a heavy emphasis on parrying and deflecting, drawing comparisons to titles like Sekiro, while the companion system includes an ability menu similar to Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Key gameplay elements include a progression system using unique currency, weapon upgrades requiring specific materials such as salvaged machinery, and over 300 collectibles. Unlike many soulslike games, death in Beast of Reincarnation does not result in the loss of currency, experience, or materials.
