Game Freak announces weather-linked mobile game Ame nochi Hare Onna

Game Freak, the developer behind the Pokémon series, has announced a new mobile title titled ‘Ame nochi Hare Onna’ (Rainy Day, Sunny Girl). Directed and produced by Shigeru Ohmori, the game is being co-developed with CHRONOGATE.

Set in contemporary Japan, the game features a magical girl theme where protagonists, known as ‘Hare-onna’, use weather as a source of power to improve people's moods. A unique mechanic involves integrating real-time Japanese weather forecasts to influence various aspects of gameplay, including combat and daily activities.

The game is described as a ‘laundry game’ where players manage the maintenance of the characters' outfits. It will be available for iOS and Android as a free-to-play title with in-app purchases. Further details are expected to be shared during the Tokyo Game Show 2026.
