Game of Thrones spin-off pilot featuring Naomi Watts was filmed but never aired

A previously unreleased pilot for a Game of Thrones spin-off, titled ‘Bloodmoon’, was filmed but never aired. The project, which had a budget of approximately $30 million, was developed by HBO in 2018 during the final stages of the original series.

Co-created by George R. R. Martin and written by Jane Goldman, the series was set during the Age of Heroes, roughly 5,000 years before the main events of the original show. The plot aimed to explore the legendary Long Night and the origins of the White Walkers. The cast featured Naomi Watts as Lady Morven Casterly, alongside Jamie Campbell Bower, Miranda Richardson, Toby Regbo, and John Simm. Despite the pilot being completed, the project did not move forward.
