Game of Thrones: War for Westeros to reveal gameplay at Gamescom

The real-time strategy (RTS) game ‘Game of Thrones: War for Westeros’ is set to debut its first gameplay trailer during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event on August 25.

Developed by PlaySide, the title draws inspiration from the ‘Total War’ and ‘Grand Strategy’ genres. Players will be able to command iconic factions such as the Stark, Lannister, and Targaryen houses, or even lead the Night King and his army of the dead. The game aims to incorporate core series elements including political intrigue, shifting alliances, and betrayals.

While the project was originally announced during the Summer Game Fest, development timelines have shifted. The release window has moved to 2026 or early 2027 to ensure the necessary quality standards are met. The upcoming showcase will provide the first look at how the Westeros strategy mechanics function in practice.
