Gamer Day highlights gaming culture trends and retail promotions in Brazil

In celebration of Gamer Day on August 29, consumer trends and retail promotions highlight the growing influence of gaming culture in Brazil.

A study by Sky+ analyzing user consumption in the first half of 2026 shows that video game adaptations are a major driver of engagement. Content focused on Action (31%), Adventure (29%), and Fantasy (19%) is preferred over science fiction or horror. The Pokémon franchise is the platform's largest phenomenon, with 12 of the top 20 most-watched productions belonging to the franchise. Additionally, the series “Pokémon Sun and Moon” recorded the highest average continuous playback time at 3.12 hours per viewer. In terms of volume, the film “Mortal Kombat” led with over 7,400 plays, while “The Last of Us” was the most consumed series with 6,200 views.

Simultaneously, Samsung is marking the occasion with a limited-time promotion for its Odyssey monitor family. From August 28 to August 30, customers in Brazil can access discounts of up to 15% on the Odyssey line through the Samsung store or app using a specific promotional coupon.
