Gamers plan vacations around major video game releases
Major video game releases are increasingly influencing the personal schedules and vacation planning of gamers. In Poland, where nearly 16 million people play video games, enthusiasts often adjust their time off to ensure they can explore new titles without interruption.
Data from a Weber Shandwick analysis, commissioned by TWIX, indicates that media materials regarding a highly anticipated game release scheduled for November 19 reached an estimated 77.1 million views in the Polish internet. This interest has extended to non-gaming brands, such as TWIX, which launched a campaign offering professional doubles to assist winners with daily tasks so they can play more.
Global trends reflect this behavior. According to a BambooHR study, 18 percent of surveyed employees in the US intended to take time off for a major game release, with the figure rising to 32 percent among Generation Z and 27 percent among millennials. Newzoo forecasts suggest global video game revenues will reach $213.9 billion this year, a 6.1 percent increase from the previous year, as the global player base grows toward 3.7 billion.
